Burbank Elementary School
Luther Burbank was a renowned horticulturist and botanist who left a great deal of influence on his fields of study thanks to his many researches and discoveries. Burbank is known to have developed more than 800 varieties of different plants and flowers, no small feat considering he did not have the high-tech modern equipment that 21st century scientist now possess.
As his discoveries multiplied and his career advanced, Luther Burbank further gave back to the community by generously giving donations to many local schools in the hopes of bettering the standard of education. It comes as no surprise then that more than 80 years after his passing away, his generosity and good deeds are still remembered by many. His name now honors many schools, many of which are named after him.
The title “Burbank Elementary School” for instance, is carried by many different schools in the United States, not just in the City of Burbank in California. There are at least four schools called the Burbank Elementary School, some of which are also called the Luther Burbank Elementary School. There are three Burbank Elementary Schools in the State of California. One is in San Bernardino, another in Long Beach, and the last in Altadena, Los Angeles County. There is also another Burbank Elementary School in Houston, Texas.
Knowing just how significant the discoveries and studies of Luther Burbank were, not to mention how deeply felt his kindness was, it comes as no surprise that many elementary schools and other educational institutions were honored to name their establishment after the famed botanist, Luther Burbank.
