Dubbed as the ‘Media Capital of the World’, there is but little doubt that Burbank, California is one of the centers of entertainment and media in the entire globe. This California city is home to several very large and extremely important media and entertainment companies just like its neighboring city of Los Angeles. Warner Bros. Entertainment and the Walt Disney Company are just some of the big time entertainment companies which you can find in Burbank, California.

It was during the 1920’s that the entertainment industry of Burbank, California began to grow. A large chain of cinema’s and studio called the First National Pictures moved into an 80 acre lot in Burbank during this time. Also, a new company owned by four brothers also moved into Burbank and started making blockbuster films in their studio. This family owned entertainment company would later be known as the Warner Bros. Entertainment which is now one of the most recognized movie producers in the entire world.

Other film companies soon begun, moved or extended their business in Burbank, California. The Walt Disney Company decided to extend their studio from Hollywood to Burbank and a multi-million dollar studio was built in Burbank. Another company that built an extension of their studio in Burbank is Columbia Pictures. The Columbia Pictures studio and facilities in Burbank started as a shooting venue for outdoor scenes. Nicktoon Network, a sister television channel of Nickelodeon is also located in Burbank. There were also plenty of medium and small scale studios, media networks and entertainment businesses that have followed the trend of locating their companies and businesses in Burbank soon afterwards.

Another very well-known entertainment and media company found in Burbank, California is the National Broadcasting Company or NBC for short. This television network arrive in the start of the 1950’s in Burbank after it moved from its previous location in Hollywood, California. Unfortunately, when NBC was merged with the newly acquired Universal Studios and became NBC Universal, the company began relocating to its new property in Universal City, Los Angeles. After more than 55 years of being in Burbank, NBC will be completely relocated to their Universal City studio complex by 2011 when the construction of their new multi-million facilities there would be finished. A very well known show aired by NBC and shoot in Burbank is the ‘Tonight Show’ which features Jay Leno. The relocation to Universal City and the change of hosts from Leno to Conan O’Brian would coincide in 2009.
